My grandpa died last night.

In his easy chair with the remote still in his hand, apparently.

If only we all could go out that easy.

Weird thought–I now have no grandparents.

I had a couple questions I wanted to ask him.

I can’t really offer anything but condolences. Feel free to e-mail me if you just want to vent to someone. He sounded like a great guy.

Sorry for your loss Bluesun. Having been close to my grandparents I know this is painful.
In a similar way, my last grandparent died in his sleep at my father’s house.
I can think of no more peaceful way to go
We should all be so blessed.

  3. Sorry for you loss, Blue.

Sorry to hear of it; my condolences & prayer for Grandpa & the family.

    • Thanks all. He was 87, and had slowed down considerably since last spring when my grandma died, but this was still really unexpected. I guess we’re going down tomorrow to do the funeral stuff.

  5. My condolences to you. My grandmother went the same way. They found her on her couch with the remote in one hand and a sandwich in the other. I bet the TV and food are better where she is now. Buried her on my birthday several years ago.
You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

  6. So sorry to hear that! That’s how my grandfather went–he was sitting in his chair with a glass of scotch and watching the Cubs game; he had one massive heart attack, and done. Better that than something slow and lingering.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, my friend.
