Supper tonight

Green chili, with pork from some friends who have a hog farm and chilies from my uncle. I think I’ll add some pinto beans from my grandpa’s co-op.

My allergy crash is rapidly devolving into a sinus infection, as expected, so I left work and am now sitting here eating as many jalapenos as I can stand. They’re usually “one and you’re done,” and I’m up to 15 or so. Maybe that’ll clear up the ol’ schnozz. Or maybe it’ll just give me something else to worry about…

You can fix stale sourdough bread by a healthy application of sliced beef roast and a generous amount of sweet mustard and  ground horseradish.

I’m pretty sure that pumpkin pie is a vegetable.  Plus it has some eggs in it, and the whipped cream on top is definitely dairy.  A well balanced meal, that is.

I was given some celery

I don’t really like celery, so.i chopped it up into a fine paste, along with some onions and carrots, added some bacon, dug in the cupboards, and wound up with lentil soup. Mmmmm…

Leftovers and Garden Refugees

Leftover pork chops and rice, with some of those beets we picked Saturday (the small ones, not the huge ones) oven roasted, and a sauce I whipped up out of cranberry juice and some secret spices. Delish!
