Well, maybe. More than just me blabbing on about work, anyway. Back to a gun bleg! So I’ve about convinced myself that an Aimpoint T-1 or H-1 may be the ticket. The Trijicon RMR is pretty neat looking (I just love the look of those tiny reflex sights), but just as pricey, and you kind of defeat the purpose of that style by putting a co-witness mount on them that you’d need for this application. Not liking the looks of the Eotechs, even if they have a slick reticule. And while I like my Vortex Strikefire for what it is–and I think it’s great on my ORC being how it’s not ever going to be used for home defense or something serious like that (unless the S really, really hits the F, .308 is not ideal for home use if you have any sort of neighbors… unless, I suppose, you are defending yourself from your neighbors?)–I am not a big fan of how the buttons are laid out. Then, of course, you can get in to the really crazy stuff like the SRS, or worse.
Anyways, it seems like for a lightweight AR like my CAV, a T-1/H-1 might hit the sweet spot, no matter how much I didn’t want to admit it when I was starting out with this build. The only reason I haven’t decided between the two (in addition to wanting to solicit advice from you, the random people of the internet), is because, well, night vision would be a really neat thing to get some day and so the extra dough might be saved up for it. It doesn’t appear that anything Aimpoint wears out appreciably, at least over the lengths of time we’re talking.
What say you?
