The bad news is that there will have to be a new furnace.
The good news is that we *think* we can get it out and a new one in without taking out any walls…

It’s the getting it in that is the key. Getting it out in bite size pieces can be accomplished with a sawzall or torch. Sometimes a sledgehammer works. Just “beat to fit” till it’ll go through the door.
Well, apparently in the 40 years or so since this one was installed, technology has progressed enough that a new one is much smaller. So that’s one problem solved, anyway.
