How do you know?
Well, it all started with a hydrant that was leaking around 500 gallons a day, apparently. My mother was wondering why the water bill kept going up…
And I would have thought that parts for such things would be readily available, since they are a least a little bit common.
Oh, and since this is a pipe that’s over the length limit for UPS or whatever, to order one costs more than just buying a new hydrant.
So we just flipped it over so the more rusty end is facing up, and hopefully we won’t have another problem for another 15 years.
