Speak of the devil!

That, my friends, is what is known as a “Forest Fire.”

Added: It’s the Pine Ridge fire. About 10 miles north of my house. Don’t worry, it would have to come down the bookcliffs, cross 4 miles of barren ‘dobe, and then the interstate, and then the canal.

A little creepy, no? We had smoke blowing into Cypress from the Magnolia fire last summer. It’s one thing to hear about forest fires elsewhere. Something quite different to see the smoke plume from your abode.

    • It’s not the first time this has happened. This is the first time it’s happened when it’s been so dry in my memory, though.

  2. Heh, the Canadians are bombing your fire.

I can’t remember any real forest fires here, but once every few years, town goes grey from a massive fire in Quebec. It has been heavy enough a couple times to leave ash sifting down and make noon seem like midnight.

    • This one isn’t that bad yet, anyway, and we did get a little bit of real rain last night (first time since March, I think), so maybe they’ll be able to knock it down.
